Prada Shortens Work Suspensions

Prada SpA is to shorten by three weeks the temporary work suspensions it imposed on 250 employees earlier this month.

MILAN—Prada SpA is to shorten by three weeks the temporary work suspensions it imposed on 250 employees earlier this month, after spring summer orders exceeded budgets by 10 percent.

Workers at the accessories plant in Levanella a Montevarchi in Tuscany began returning to work on Monday. Prada signed an agreement with Italian unions two weeks ago to put the staff into “Cassa Integrazione” or government-funded leave, on rotation for between four and six weeks. “The company is extremely pleased to identify the first signs of the market’s recovery that allow it to schedule a speedy return to full production,” Prada stated Wednesday.
