MILAN — EcorNaturaSí, an Italian company specializing in organic food, has landed two new backers: Red Circle Investments, the private investment holding company of Diesel founder Renzo Rosso and his family, and Forever, the investment firm of strategic consulting entrepreneur Giorgio Rossi Cairo and his family.

With 113 NaturaSí sales points throughout Italy and another 300 Cuorebio doors, EcorNaturaSí is a steadily rising force in the country’s distribution of organic and sustainably grown food. The company closed out 2013 with a consolidated production value of about 230 million euros, or $315 million at current exchange rates, representing a 12 percent increase year-on-year, which EcorNaturaSi attributed largely to an increase in the number of regular customers at its key stores.

“I believe that a quality diet is today’s real luxury,” said Rosso, who grew up in the northern Italian countryside. “And if it’s possible to combine this with a return to a fair relationship with those working the land, guaranteeing proper profit margins and a dependable income — [bearing in mind that] respect for the land is at a historical low, to the detriment of our health and our future — then everyone is a winner. I have personal experience with the difficulties but also the potential of this sector, even for the younger generations. We have incredible respect for what EcorNaturaSí has accomplished so far and we hope to be able to contribute, with our entrepreneurial experience and our innovation and creativity, to make the opportunity of a better quality of life available to the greatest number of people possible.”

EcorNaturaSí’s other organic-friendly investors are Libera Fondazione Antroposofica Rudolf Steiner, which through Ariele Holding is the majority stakeholder, and the Paravicini Crespi family.
