PARIS — Might Douglas Holding or LBO France together with Fosun be the next owner of French perfumery chain Nocibé?
A spokesman from Charterhouse Capital Partners LLP, Nocibé’s owner, had no comment Wednesday on a report published in French daily Le Figaro saying Douglas Holding wants to buy the chain, and that private equity concerns LBO France and China’s Fosun International are together preparing to bid for it. The article also said the date for firm takeover offers for Nocibé has been pushed back a couple of weeks, to late June.
A spokeswoman at Advent, Douglas Holding’s owner, said the company does not comment on rumors.
Douglas Holding is the parent company of the Hagen, Germany-based Douglas Group, which includes the Douglas perfumery chain, among other activities.
A spokesman for LBO France could not be reached for comment.
Sephora and Marionnaud are France’s first- and second-largest perfumery chains. Nocibé, in third position, in 2012 outpaced the French perfume and cosmetics market, according to Isabelle Parize, president and chief executive officer of the retailer, during a press conference in Paris in February.
In 2012, the chain also closed its parapharmacies and opened or acquired 21 stores. Further, Nocibé increased its media spend by 10 percent on-year, and in spring 2012 launched a 682-reference private-label beauty line.
In 2013, new doors continue being added to the chain, and Nocibé is multiplying by six its investment in personnel training, among other projects, said Parize.
