NEW YORK — Retail expert Marvin Traub has joined the board of NexCen Brands Inc.

Traub, former chairman and president of Bloomingdale's from 1969 to 1991 and now head of his own consulting firm, Marvin Traub Associates Inc., will lend his expertise to assist in the development of NexCen's apparel and retail brands.

“Marvin and I have know each other for many years. I admire Marvin, who is a retail icon. I could not be more delighted to have someone like Marvin on our board. We've talked about this for four or five months, and it is great for us strategically and critical for NexCen on a going-forward basis," Robert W. D'Loren, president and chief executive officer of NexCen said.

With the addition of Traub, NexCen's board totals eight. According to D'Loren, Traub's international connections and network of business contacts throughout the world will be invaluable to all of NexCen's brands.

“Marvin will focus on Bill Blass and our retail franchise vertical. We intend to develop additional retail concepts and I think Marvin's counsel will be very valuable to NexCen shareholders," D'Loren said.

Separately, NexCen on Friday filed a resale shelf registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission to register shares of its common stock that was issued in connection with recent acquisitions. Those acquisitions include The Athlete's Foot, Bill Blass, MaggieMoo's and the Waverly home brand. The shares are being registered per the terms of the registration rights agreements with the stockholders that acquired the shares and NexCen will not receive any proceeds from sales of stock by the holders of the shares to be registered.
