WASHINGTON — Federal authorities arrested 16 people in New Jersey on Sunday and seized thousands of counterfeit designer items valued at more than $1 million, officials said this week.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations worked in conjunction with the FBI and local police to make the arrests of the 16 individuals, who operated as vendors at flea markets. The arrests were made as the vendors were returning to a Mini U Storage to store their unsold counterfeit merchandise after spending the weekend at the Tacony Palmyra Flea Market in Palmyra, N.J.
Among the bogus designer counterfeit items was merchandise from brands such as Ralph Lauren, Nike, Adidas, Timberland, True Religion, The North Face, Ugg, Lacoste, Juicy Couture and Gucci. The 16 were arrested and charged with violation of the New Jersey Trademark-Counterfeiting Act. RELATED STORY: China and U.S. Team for Counterfeit Stin >>
