GENEVA — Global fabric and yarn production posted major gains in the second quarter, spurred by a double-digit surge in output by Asia, marking a major turnaround after two years of continuous falls, an industry survey said.

World yarn production during the April to June period expanded 22.4 percent compared with the previous quarter, and was the first gain registered after falls since the second quarter of 2007, said the International Textile Manufacturers Federation.
