U.S. apparel companies are working to help earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. The American Apparel & Footwear Association said it has created the Haiti-AAFA Recovery & Reconstruction Team. The group will seek to learn the immediate, specific needs of Haitian firms, as well as assist the industry with long-term planning. “The U.S. apparel industry has a long partnership with Haiti and is ready to be a cornerstone of Haiti reconstruction,” said Rick Helfenbein, president of Tellas Ltd., the U.S. division of Luen Thai, and steering committee co-chairman of the Haiti-AAFA task force.
