Anne Bassin is leaving Michael Kors. Bassin, known until her marriage last year as Anne Waterman, has resigned as the firm’s senior vice president, global image, effective at the end of the month. Her departure was revealed in a memo sent to the staff this morning from Kors and chief executive John Idol.

“It is with great sadness,” they wrote, that Bassin will now divide her time between San Francisco and New York. “Anne has given the company 15 wonderful years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. She has been instrumental in helping to develop the image of the Michael Kors brand in many different capacities. She has been a visionary for us.”

Bassin said the move will afford her more flexibility. “My husband (Darin Bassin, executive vice president and general counsel, CBS Interactive) is bicoastal, and I wanted more flexibility,” she told WWD. “I have full faith that everyone [at Michael Kors] will do an amazing job going forward. We have a great team in place. I feel this is a good time, after the 30th anniversary and before the next show and next shoot season gets underway. There aren’t many breaks left in fashion anymore. I’m really excited about what’s next for me and what’s next for the company. Everyone here is brilliant, and has been very, very good to me.”
