NEW YORK — Arthur Shapiro, a former co-owner of R&S Sales, a manufacturer and marketer of women’s and men’s slippers and flip-flops, died Saturday in CentraState Hospital, Freehold, N.J. He was 75. The cause of death was brain cancer, according to Steven Podhaizer, a current co-owner.
Shapiro, who in 1980 was one of the two original founders of R&S, had been involved with the day-to-day operations of the business until he retired in 2009. The company’s licensed brands include Jessica Simpson, Easy Spirit, Rockport and Chaps.
