PARIS — Baccarat has named Daniela Riccardi its new chief executive officer, effective June 3.
An Italian national, Riccardi was most recently ceo at Diesel, stepping down from the role at the denim and sportswear giant on April 1.
At Baccarat, she succeeds Markus Lampe, who is leaving the position to pursue another opportunity. His next move could not immediately be learned.
Barry Sternlicht, chairman of the board at Baccarat, said Riccardi, 53, would help the company accelerate its international development.
The United States is among regions slated for expansion.
As reported, the French crystal specialist plans to open next month a 2,800-square-foot flagship at 635 Madison Avenue that will set a new retail template for the brand. The two-story unit, designed by architect Rafael de Cárdenas, is to showcase tableware, lighting, jewelry and other products.
Meanwhile, a Baccarat Hotel & Residences is slated to open off Fifth Avenue in 2014, the year the brand celebrates its 250th anniversary.
Prior to her two-year stint at Diesel, Riccardi spent 25 years at Procter & Gamble in various senior management roles around the world. From 2005 to 2010, she was the consumer products giant’s president in Greater China.
