Barneys New York said Tuesday that Jennifer Sunwoo has been promoted to executive vice president and general merchandise manager for women’s. Sunwoo, whose appointment is effective immediately, is responsible for merchandising, product development and strategy for all women’s categories at Barneys New York.
Sunwoo joined Barneys New York in February 2011 as senior vice president and divisional merchandise manager, women’s designer. Prior to Barneys, she worked for 12 years at Bergdorf Goodman in the women’s merchandising organization, which culminated in her role as vice president and dmm, women’s advanced designer. Before joining Bergdorf Goodman, Sunwoo spent two years in women’s merchandising at J. Crew. Sunwoo will continue to report to Daniella Vitale, chief operating officer, senior executive and vice president.
As a result of Sunwoo’s new role, Leah Kim has been promoted to vice president and divisional merchandise manager of women’s designer. Kim has held a variety of positions in the merchandising group since joining Barneys in January 1998. She was most recently senior buyer and designer ready-to-wear.
