Matthew Shattock, president and chief executive officer of Beam Inc., has been elected a director of VF Corp.
With his addition, VF’s board expands to 13 members, 12 of whom are independent. Eric Wiseman, chairman, president and ceo of VF, is the sole inside director.
Shattock, who will serve on the compensation and finance committees of VF’s board, has led Beam, marketer of Jim Beam and other spirits, since 2009, originally as a unit of Fortune Brands and since 2011 as a stand-alone public company. He also serves on Beam’s board.
“Matt’s exceptional leadership skills, along with his deep experience in strategy, brand and international business development, will add great value to VF as we continue shaping the global growth of our company,” Wiseman said.
Based in Greensboro, N.C., VF is the largest U.S.-based marketer of apparel, with a portfolio of brands that includes Wrangler, Lee, The North Face, Vans, Seven For All Mankind, Timberland and Nautica. Its 2011 revenues totaled $9.37 billion.
