NEW CEO AT BIG STRIKE: Kevin Mahoney, the former president of Chaps Ralph Lauren and NYDJ, has been named chief executive officer at Big Strike Inc., the moderately priced women’s apparel manufacturer owned by private equity firm Gores Group. As ceo at Gardena, Calif.-based Big Strike, which designs, produces and wholesales fashion brands such as Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, Heart Soul, Workshop, Tracy Evans, Sugar High, Soulmates, Free to Love and Halo, he succeeds Paula Schneider. When Los Angeles-based Gores Group acquired majority ownership of Big Strike two years ago, it disclosed that the brand’s sales had reached $100 million. A spokesman declined to reveal current sales figures. In addition to Big Strike, Gores Group owns luxury label J.Mendel and casual apparel brand Mexx.
