Bob Dakin, senior vice president of store operations in the J. Jill unit of The Talbots Inc., has joined the Warnaco Group Inc. as senior vice president of retail, a new position.
Among his duties will be the identification of global retail strategies, as well as new retail opportunities in the U.S.
Dakin's "retail experience will be invaluable to us as we continue to expand our direct-to-consumer presence globally," said president and chief executive officer Joe Gromek. Dakin will report to Gromek.
Gromek said Warnaco previously stated that it expects retail to account for about 30 percent of revenues by the end of 2012 and has established a sales target for its stores of about $1,000 a square foot.
In fiscal 2007, Warnaco's retail revenues rose 36.7 percent and were responsible for $337.4 million of the company's $1.86 billion in overall volume, or 18.1 percent. Retail operating income rose 42.4 percent and accounted for $51.2 million, or 37.4 percent, of the corporate total of $137 million.
As of April 5, Warnaco operated 129 freestanding Calvin Klein stores and 632 Calvin Klein shop-in-shop or concession stores.
Before working at J. Jill, Dakin was executive vice president of Brooks Brothers and senior vice president of AnnTaylor Stores Corp. He began his career at Lord & Taylor.

“I’m Russian and I love to use all these little tricks that I got from my grandma or my mom. We didn’t have a lot of money for creams or anything like that so we would use a garden as a beauty treatment regime. We’d put cucumber in the fridge and do a cucumber mask,” says model @irinashayk on one of her beauty hacks. WWD asked celebs what their go-to self-care rituals are.
