BRAG, the Black Retail Action Group, can boast some big-name draws for its 39th annual Scholarship and Awards gala. Basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and Saks Fifth Avenue chairman and chief executive Stephen I. Sadove are among those to be honored at the event, set for Oct. 23 at Cipriani on Wall Street.
Richard Dent, senior vice president, chief operating officer and co-leader, Victoria’s Secret Pink; Constance White, style director of eBay; Johnny Taylor, ceo of Rushmoredrive.com; Shawn Outler, group vice president of multicultural merchandising and vendor development, Macy’s Inc. and Best Buy will also be honored.
The theme for the event — the power of change — reflects a world in flux and how business models are changing and opportunities are arising.
BRAG has awarded more than 300 scholarships totaling more than $300,000. In addition, more than 1,000 students have participated in BRAG’s summer internship program.
