Jérôme Bédier succeeds Pierre-Alexandre Teulié in the executive management post.

PARIS Carrefour SA, the world’s second-largest retailer after Wal-Mart Stores Inc., said today it has named Jérôme Bédier as general secretary of the Carrefour Group, effective immediately.

Bédier will take over the functions previously held by Pierre-Alexandre Teulié. Bédier, 56, was previously vice president of Capgemini Consulting France, in charge of development in the areas of mass consumption and trade, and also has a long experience working at the Trade Ministry.

“He will bring to Carrefour Group his expertise of the retail business, his ability to handle sensitive matters as well as his deep knowledge of French and European institutional business,” the company stated.
