NEW YORK — Former David Yurman executive David Minster has joined the bridal jewelry label Scott Kay Inc. as chief executive officer and a member of the board of advisers.
The company’s namesake and founder will continue to serve as chairman and chief designer. With Minster on board, Kay will be able to focus on design, as well as pursue his other passions, such as writing, public speaking and industry teaching. Credited as the pioneer of the designer bridal jewelry category, and an innovator in men’s and ladies’ fine fashion jewelry, Kay has been creating his designs for 30-plus years.
Minster brings more than 25 years of experience in the luxury and consumer goods businesses. Kay said, “I have spent more than a decade looking for a business partner to run the company on a day-to-day basis to enable me to focus on the art and design of our products. A founding entrepreneur can only wear so many hats before he reaches a certain level. With David on board, we will be able to far exceed the vision I have for the brand.”
Minster, 51, spent more than 12 years at fashion jeweler David Yurman, handling operations and technology during many years of double-digit percentage growth. In that capacity, he oversaw initiatives that Kay is interested in building on, especially direct-to-consumer and global operations in the company’s supply chain and retail.
Former David Yurman ceo Paul Blum, now ceo of Juicy Couture, said, “From my work with David, I suspect he will look very carefully at building out the Scott Kay infrastructure for growth. With David’s rare combination of supply chain, technology, retail, online and corporate restructuring experience, I’m sure he will be very successful in his new role.”
Minster said, “You’re dealing with a matrix of omnichannel opportunities, geographic opportunities, a myriad of new category possibilities. We’ll be able to dramatically impact performance and growth by focusing on key initiatives, building great teams to execute them, and by allowing Scott to focus on the tremendous body of unpublished designs in his studio.”

“It’s life, I’m going to face it,” @mingxi11 sighed. “I fell, but you know, I think the most important thing is that I get back up. I had the love, the help from my sister — the girl next to me Gizele [Oliveira] — she’s so nice. When I went backstage everybody was trying to comfort me like ‘Oh Ming, it’s OK.’ I’m really, really touched. I think it’s them who gave me the courage to go back on stage for the finale,” Xi told WWD of her fall at the @victoriassecret fashion show. “You know, I think audiences expect a certain performance so I have to deliver to them what they’re expecting to a certain degree. But I’m also a different actor and a different person, I have my own spin on the character,” says @noahegalvin of his takeover of the leading role in “Dear Evan Hansen” following the departure of @bensplatt, who originated the role. “I just wanted to create this fully rounded character, but I do think what excited me most was just the opportunity to give a group of people representation that I feel needs it. I like to do characters in projects that stand for something and Karolina definitely does, so that was really exciting to me,” @ginnygardner says of her new role in @hulu’s “The Runaways.” Gardner plays Karolina Dean, a queer superhero, which is a rarity for @marvel.
