David’s Bridal has lined up Gap executive Pamela B. Wallack as its new chief executive officer.
Wallack will start her new post May 28. She was unavailable for comment Friday.
Wallack is still heading up Gap’s Global Creative Center in New York and will exit Wednesday, a Gap Inc. spokeswoman said. That is now being helmed by creative director and executive vice president for Gap Global Design Rebekka Bay and others.
At David’s Bridal, a Conshohocken, Pa.-based 300-plus unit chain, Wallack will be responsible for expanding the store base, bolstering the e-commerce, enhancing customer in-store experience and adding to the portfolio of high-fashion brands.
The company’s chairman Paul S. Pressler said, “Pam, whom I know from my days at the Gap and before that at Disney, brings extraordinary strategic, branding and merchandising capabilities that will complement our talented leadership team as we work to increase our sophistication and effectiveness in serving our customers at a critical juncture in their lives.”
Pressler is also a partner at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, the private investment firm that acquired David’s Bridal in October. Shortly thereafter, David’s Bridal ceo and chief operating officer Robert Huth indicated he would be leaving the company, which he did in late March. White by Vera Wang, Oleg Cassini, Melissa Sweet and Galina are among the wedding dress labels sold by the retailer.
At Gap, Wallack was reportedly responsible for global design, marketing and production and accountable for $6 billion in annual sales. She has also worked at Toys ‘R’ Us, Coach, The Disney Store and Laura Ashley. Pressler said, “As the largest player in the bridal gown market and the only national footprint in the industry, we have a strong foundation from which we can continue to provide customers with the wedding dresses and related bridal-party apparel and accessories that they most value.”
Taking the final spot on the mens’ portion of New York Fashion Week calendar next month will be none other than @tomford. Though he’s shown his men’s wear in New York in the past, this will mark the first time the designer has shown his men’s collection alone during New York Fashion Week: Men’s. His runway show will debut on February 6 at the Park Avenue Armory. #wwdfashion

@nickjonas is unveiling his first-ever apparel collection through a partnership with John Varvatos.
