NEW YORK — Elizabeth Francis on Friday was named chief marketing officer of Gilt Groupe. She reports to Kevin Ryan, founder and chief executive officer of the members-only designer Web site whose businesses include women’s, men’s, kids and home, reduced up to 60 percent, travel, city-specific offerings and Park & Bond, a full-price online men’s store.
Francis’ responsibilities include Gilt Groupe’s new customer generation and retention programs across all channels, creative direction, brand positioning and research and analytics. She succeeds Alexis Maybank, a founder of Gilt, who stepped in as chief marketing officer six months ago. Maybank, who has held a number of critical roles at the company, will resume her previous position of chief strategy officer.
Francis has more than 12 years of marketing and advertising experience. Prior to joining Gilt, she was chief marketing officer of Intelligent Beauty, an e-commerce and brand-building incubator. In addition to her Intelligent Beauty responsibilities, Francis was president of JustFabulous, an online fashion and accessories brand launched by Intelligent Beauty. Before that, she was vice president of Alena, a Fox Interactive company, and spent several years at LowerMyBills.com.
“Gilt has quickly built a brand through unconventional marketing vehicles and Elizabeth is well suited to lead marketing to ensure we continue on that path,” Ryan said.
