CONFERENCE ON STYLE: The ninth annual fashion conference, titled "Timeless: The Anatomy of Legendary Style and Icons," will take place today through Saturday at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts at 1083 Fifth Avenue in New York. Organized by Lisa Koenigsberg, president and founder of Initiatives in Art and Culture, the conference will feature 17 participants, including Ira Neimark, former chairman of Bergdorf Goodman and author; designers Mary McFadden and Thom Browne, and Andrew Bolton, curator, The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute.
WTO NAMES JUDGES: Jennifer Hillman, a former U.S. chief textile negotiator, was appointed to the World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Body's seven-member appellate court. Hillman, 50, was instrumental during her tenure as chief textile negotiator from 1993 to 1995 and as chief legal counsel to the U.S. Trade Representative from 1995 to 1997 in negotiating a string of bilateral textile accords and in defending challenges by trading partners. Also appointed to the appellate body were Lilia Bautista, a former ambassador of the Philippines; Shotaro Oshima, Japan's former ambassador to the WTO, and Yuejiao Zhang, a professor of law and former director general for treaties at China's ministry of foreign trade and economic cooperation. Hillman's and Bautista's appointments are effective Dec. 11 and Oshima's and Zhang's terms begin June 1.
BON-TON CHANGE: The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. said James M. Zamberlan, executive vice president for stores, will retire at the end of fiscal 2007. The retailer named Barbara Schantz, senior vice president for merchandise planning and Internet marketing, to be Zamberlan's successor. The retailer operates 280 stores in 23 states.
QUIKSILVER MARKETING: Quiksilver Inc. appointed Greg Perlot, a former advertising and branding executive at Microsoft Corp. and Publicis USA, senior vice president of marketing for Quiksilver brands in the Americas regions, a new position. He worked as a consultant with the Huntington Beach, Calif., board sport company for the past three years. Perlot will report to Steve Tully, president of Quiksilver brands in the Americas. Perlot co-founded 72andSunny, a Los Angeles brand strategy, design and advertising agency, and worked with Coca-Cola, Xbox and Discovery Channel, among other brands.
