- NEW ADVANSTAR EXECUTIVE: Advanstar Communications Inc. named Chris DeMoulin, a former executive in Walt Disney Co.'s $23 billion consumer products group, as executive vice president of its fashion group and president of the MAGIC International trade show. DeMoulin replaces Laura McConnell at the fashion group and Chris McCabe at MAGIC International. He will focus on strengthening alliances between exhibitors and retailers at MAGIC and developing new initiatives for Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Advanstar. At Disney, he was responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all business and product development, setting global retail and merchandising strategies and leading the marketing, retail planning and trade activity for Disney's licensing business in North America. He also was executive vice president of marketing at Walden Media, the Los Angeles media company that produced "The Chronicles of Narnia" film franchise.
- ART OF GLASS: Fashion industry veteran Hervé Martin, who joined crystal firm Baccarat in September as chief operating officer, has been named chief executive officer, as expected. Martin succeeds Marc Leclerc, who will take on a consulting role at Baccarat parent Groupe du Louvre, according to the company.
