- NEW LACOSTE CEO: Lacoste has appointed Christophe Chenut as chief executive officer, a new post, marking a reorganization of the French sportswear firm's management. Chenut, 49, joins Lacoste from French sports newspaper L'Equipe, where he was managing director. Previously, he was president of the Stade de Reims soccer club. Chenut will start April 1. His nomination comes two years after the death of Bernard Lacoste, the affable businessman who helped transform the brand into a global player. Since Bernard Lacoste's death, his brother Michel Lacoste, 65, who is also a son of the brand's founder, tennis legend Rene Lacoste, has served as the firm's chairman, a role in which he will continue.
- TALBOTS TARGETS WAGNER: As part of its efforts to strengthen and reposition the Talbots brand, Lori Wagner on Friday was named to the new position of chief marketing officer, Talbots said. Wagner will be responsible for advertising, catalogue development, direct marketing and customer service. Wagner will be based in the company's New York office where she'll work closely with Talbots chief creative officer Michael Smaldone. As chief marketing officer of the Talbots brand, she will report to president and chief executive officer Trudy Sullivan. On matters relating to Talbots direct business, she will report to chief operating officer Phil Kowalczyk. Wagner was most recently chief marketing officer at Cole Haan.
