Jim Kenney, a former J.C. Penney Co. Inc. and Macy’s Inc. executive, joined Alvarez & Marsal as a Dallas-based managing director and will advise the consultancy’s clients as they put their strategic plans into action.

“Consumers are ushering in a new era of personalization in their shopping habits, which is forcing retailers to reinvigorate their brands and consider new technologies for customer engagement,” said Dean Tarpley, managing director and leader of the firm’s retail industry practice. “Jim’s experience working for a major national retailer during the economic downturn is an asset to our team as we counsel clients on how best to navigate an evolving retail environment.”
