John Deputato has been promoted to president of apparel for the U.S. practice area of The NPD Group, the Port Washington, N.Y.-based market-research firm.
Deputato was most recently senior vice president of NPD’s North American analytics and modeling practice and has spent more than 25 years in the consumer product goods and research industries, including nearly a decade with Information Resources Inc., where he supervised contact with clients in the beauty, personal care and health industries.
Deputato reports to Diane Nicholson, president of U.S. softlines for NPD, and takes over responsibilities that had previously been handled by Amy Hyland, who was earlier promoted to executive vice president of product management and development at the firm.
“John’s extensive knowledge in strategic planning, account management, analytics and category management applications will be a strong complement to the apparel team’s expertise,” Nicholson said.
NPD last week agreed to acquire Boulder, Colo.-based Leisure Trends, a market-research firm for the sports and recreation industries. Terms weren’t disclosed.
