Jones Apparel Group Inc. has tapped Ted Kim to be vice president of design for its Anne Klein New York division, a new position.
Kim was most recently a senior designer for the Michael Kors Collection, and before that worked at Donna Karan Signature and MaxMara Sportmax.
He joins a long line of designers who have passed through the storied but challenged fashion label that was once one of America's most iconic sportswear brands. They include Donna Karan, Louis Dell'Olio, Richard Tyler, Patrick Robinson, Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco, Charles Nolan and Michael Smaldone.
Jones, which acquired Anne Klein as part of its purchase of Kasper A.S.L. in 2003, recently brought in Isabel Toledo to create a top tier Anne Klein designer collection. Toledo's efforts were to trickle down to bridge Anne Klein New York and better-priced AK Anne Klein collections, but after just two seasons, Jones shut the division.
At Anne Klein, Kim will oversee the design of the bridge-tier sportswear and his first collection will be spring 2009. He will report to Susie Rieland, Jones' chief merchandising officer for bridge and better sportswear. Rieland said Anne Klein New York is "an important growth vehicle," adding that the company has been "encouraged by the positive feedback our spring 2008 products are already receiving."
“I was touched by the fact that she lost her father, really before his time, and it was a real shock. She had two young children, she was married and she was expecting that she would have her own life for a good 25 years,” said Claire Foy about playing a young Queen Elizabeth in Netflix’s The Crown. “It transcends the genre that is you think of a sci-fi show — you don’t expect it to be so profound or emotionally riveting,” Evan Rachel Wood told WWD of her Emmy nominated role in Westworld. styled by @samanthamcmillen_stylist 📸 @emmanmontalvan #emmys2017 #wwdeye
