Jos. A. Bank Promotes Frank Barbarino to GMM

Sportswear and furnishings added to duties in tailored clothing.

Frank Barbarino has been promoted to senior vice president and general merchandise manager of Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Inc., the Hampstead, Md.-based operator of 558 men’s specialty stores.

Barbarino joined the company in 1999 and was most recently vice president for tailored clothing. With his promotion, he adds supervision of sportswear and furnishings with responsibility for design, manufacturing, sourcing and sales of the firm’s merchandise offerings.

He will continue to report to James Thorne, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

“I have worked with Frank for nearly 13 years and he has been instrumental in developing many of the company’s most innovative, successful new products, such as our Joseph line of modern suits, the Tailored Fit and Slim Fit suit lines as well as the high-end Signature Gold suit line,” Thorne said. “By promoting Frank, we have taken an important step toward insuring our future growth.”

Three divisional merchandise managers — Dan McGuire for tailored clothing, Steve Marshall for furnishings and Holly Sheets for sportswear — will report to Barbarino. McGuire had been responsible for all tailored clothing except suits prior to the realignment in responsibilities, according to R. Neal Black, president and chief executive officer of Jos. A. Bank.

Founded in 1905, Jos. A. Bank has stores in 43 states and Washington. In the fiscal year ended Jan. 28, it had sales of $979.9 million and net income of $97.5 million.
