Kenneth Kunberger has been promoted to president and chief executive officer of International Textile Group Inc., the operator of Burlington Worldwide and Cone Denim owned by Wilbur Ross.
Kunberger succeeds Joseph Gorga, who will retire at the end of the month after serving as president and ceo since the establishment of Greensboro, N.C.-based ITG in 2004.
Kunberger, who has been chief operating officer of ITG since 2011, joined Burlington Industries in 1998 and, after serving as president of Burlington Worldwide, became president of the firm’s apparel and specialty fabrics group where he assumed responsibility for Cone Denim and its operations in the U.S., Mexico and China.
Earlier in his career, he held posts at Liz Claiborne Inc. and with the licensed jeanswear and Marithé + François Girbaud units of VF Corp.
“Ken has made many contributions to the company in his previous roles and we believe he is the right person to lead ITG as it moves to expand its brand, product and customer bases,” said Gorga.
Gorga, who became president and ceo of ITG upon its formation in 2004, joined Burlington Industries in 2002 and became its president and ceo upon its acquisition by Ross’s WL Ross & Co. in 2003. Prior to Burlington, he’d held executive posts at Milliken & Co. and served as chairman and ceo of CMI Industries. He has also been vice chairman of the American Textile Manufacturing Institute and chairman of the National Textile Association.
Ross, chairman of ITG, commented, “Joe was instrumental to the company in its formation, integration activities, international development and transition to its role today as a preeminent supplier of technology and innovation in the industry supply chain. With his leadership during these past 10 years, ITG is now positioned for continued growth in many key areas.”
Etro’s show, titled “The Tree of Life,” was a celebration of the house’s 50th anniversary. “My father founded the company in 1968, which was the year of counterculture and psychedelia. It’s really a show that celebrates that and the paisley design of India and its origin,” said Veronica Etro. #wwdfashion #mfw #ss18 (📷: @delphineachard)
