Larry Miller is rejoining Nike Inc.’s Jordan brand as president, a position he held from 1999 to 2006. Miller, 61, was most recently president of the Portland Trail Blazers basketball franchise. Earlier in his career, he served as vice president and general manager of Nike Basketball, managing operations for the company’s Jordan brand, Nike Basketball and Converse properties.

At Jordan brand — named for and inspired by former Chicago Bulls icon Michael Jordan — Miller reports to Trevor Edwards, vice president of global brand and category management for Nike. Miller is replacing Keith Houlemard, who was named general manager of Nike’s worldwide Olympic initiatives, overseeing key sports marketing partnerships and brand management strategies.

“The Jordan brand continues to drive strong momentum in the marketplace and we look forward to Larry expanding our market leadership while delivering Jordan brand experiences that connect deeply with future generations,” said Edwards.

Launched in 1997, the Jordan brand encompasses footwear, apparel and accessories. Michael Jordan maintains an active involvement with the business and a portion of proceeds from the brand’s sales goes to Jordan Fundamentals, an education grants program for teachers.

“It’s great to have Larry return to the Jordan brand at such an exciting time. He is a strong leader, knows our brand and understands how to accelerate the growth of a premium business,” said Jordan.
