NEW YORK — With 20 years of real estate experience under her belt, Laura Pomerantz is ready for the next challenge.
She has established her own global real estate company, Laura Pomerantz Real Estate LLC, which will be based at 230 Park Avenue here. For the past 12 years, Pomerantz has been a principal and founding partner in PBS Real Estate with John Brod and Mort Schrader, who left two years ago. Before that, she was senior managing director at Newmark & Co. and earlier held a senior management post at SL Green.
Pomerantz’s firm, which opens today, will focus on retail real estate and commercial office space. She brings to the venture her diverse client list, which includes Ted Baker London; Hotel Chocolat; Joe Fresh; Abercrombie & Fitch; Scoop; Levi Strauss & Co.; Timberland; Vince Camuto; Jack Rogers; Gant, and Ippolita. She will also continue to be a consultant to Bal Harbour Shops in both merchandising and leasing, which she’s been doing for the past two years. PBS will close after deals in negotiation are finalized. Brod plans to join ABS Partners Real Estate LLC.
“Retailers are back in expansion mode, focusing on international opportunities as they face saturated conditions on both sides of the pond,” said Pomerantz. “As the retail landscape continues to evolve and companies reevaluate their real estate portfolios, we look forward to working closely with our clients to develop both domestic and global real estate strategies that best facilitate growth and define their brands.”
During her career, Pomerantz has secured more than eight million square feet of office and retail transactions for clients including Bloomberg LP, Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani, Stuart Weitzman, David Yurman, Tory Burch and Josie Natori. She also represented Abercrombie & Fitch for flagships in the U.S. and internationally and has secured space on its behalf in cities such as Milan, Paris, Brussels, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Copenhagen, Dublin, London and Madrid.
Among her major transactions were securing Fifth Avenue flagships for Abercrombie & Fitch, Joe Fresh, Giorgio Armani and Ted Baker; 600 Broadway for Hollister; one million square feet of office space for Bloomberg’s original offices, and a new 21,057-square-foot flagship for Levi Strauss on Market Street in San Francisco, which will open this fall. Pomerantz hired WSAA Inc., the ad agency of Mitchells/Richards, to do her company’s corporate identity and branding.
Pomerantz’s services include expanding national retailers in the U.S. and abroad; bringing international retailers to the U.S.; securing office, showroom and warehouse space for clients; researching, evaluating and executing investment sales and purchases, and portfolio reviews. Working with top-level executives, Pomerantz said, the firm will specialize in strategic and tactical planning, cost reduction analysis, tenant and landlord representation, lease negotiation, acquisition and development and equity investment. Pomerantz will launch the business with five other people, of whom three are brokers and two are support personnel.
Key has been her ability to negotiate with many different landlords and personalities, said Pomerantz. “You have to be solution-oriented and flexible to cope with all the different styles of people and all the personalities. It’s a business of relationships, psychology, solutions and flexibility,” she said, adding that she has also been helped by her apparel expertise, having worked for 18 years at The Leslie Fay Cos.
“These collections continue to build on that vision, empowering differently abled adults to express themselves through fashion,” said @tommyhilfiger of his line of adaptive apparel, which launches today. The line consists of 37 men’s and 34 women’s styles based upon the pieces from the spring Tommy Hilfiger sportswear collection. #wwdnews
