Linda Hefner Filler Named President of Claire’s

Hefner Filler, formerly executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Sam’s Club, will start her job March 1.

Claire’s Stores Inc. named Linda Hefner Filler president of the Claire’s North America division, succeeding Jay Friedman, who resigned in August.

Hefner Filler, formerly executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Sam’s Club, will start her job March 1 and report to Jim Fielding, the chief executive officer. Hefner Filler will be responsible for all operational and strategic initiatives for the 1,500 Claire’s stores in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. She will also be responsible for enhancing Claire’s store design for an improved shopping experience and expanding e-commerce.

Hefner Filler’s background includes stints as executive vice president and general manager of the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. home division; earlier, she held executive roles at Kraft Foods and Sara Lee Corp.

“Linda’s experience and expertise in the areas of retail operations, strategic planning, brand management and business analysis will serve her well in her new role. She is known for her ability to build and lead talented teams toward a common vision,” Fielding said.

The company also recently named Holly Cohen senior vice president, global real estate and construction, and this month Peter Collyer will join the company as senior vice president, global human resources.

Claire’s Stores Inc. operates 3,085 owned stores in North America, Europe and China, as well as 392 franchised or licensed stores in various countries.
