Matches Names Chief Operating Officer

The London-based retailer has named Ulric Jerome chief operations officer to help drive the global growth of Matchesfashion.com.

LONDON — The London-based retailer Matches has named Ulric Jerome chief operations officer to help drive the global growth of Matchesfashion.com. He has also joined the company’s board of directors.

Jerome was part of the founding group of entrepreneurs that launched the French electricals website Pixmania.com in 2000, and grew it to a business with revenues over 800 million euros, operating in 26 countries. The U.K.-based electrical retailer Dixons acquired a majority stake in that company in 2006.

“When you are an entrepreneur, you are always looking for an edge, driven to build something new and exciting,” said Jerome in a telephone interview. “I met Ruth and Tom [Chapman, the husband-and-wife owners of Matches] for lunch, and realized that the combination of our know-how was the perfect opportunity to build an incredible omni-channel experience.”

He will report directly to the Chapmans, and focus initially on improving logistics and IT systems. His job will then be to look at making sure “the customer journey is fulfilled, regardless of distribution channel. Within 12 months, we can expect to see Matchesfashion.com accelerate on a global scale,” he said.
