Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gutterman-Musicant at 402 Park Avenue. in Hackensack, N.J., for Max Alberg, a longtime men’s wear executive and father of MR editor in chief Karen Alberg Grossman. Alberg, 93, died at home in his sleep on Monday, according to an obituary on MR’s Web site.

Born in New York City, Alberg joined Macy’s Herald Square in 1935, where he remained until joining the U.S. Army in 1940. He returned to Macy’s after leaving the army in 1945 and spent the next 35 years in various positions, including senior vice president of men’s and boys’ wear.

After retiring from Macy’s, Alberg, known as Mac, worked for UniShops and then Bounty Trading. He retired from Bounty at 91.

He is survived by his wife Ursula; three daughters, Karen, Vicki and Michelle; two sons, Paul and Scott; a sister, Ruth Yarnell; a brother, Herb, and 16 grandchildren.
