Mike Duke, president and chief executive officer of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., saw his total compensation gain 14.1 percent to $20.7 million last year.

His take included a salary of $1.3 million, cash incentive pay of $4.4 million and stock awards valued at $13.6 million. Duke might not realize the full value of his stock compensation given a number of factors, including share price fluctuations.

Duke’s 2011 pay of $18.1 million made him the 13th-highest-paid executive in the U.S. fashion industry, according to WWD’s tally.

Bill Simon, president and ceo of the Wal-Mart U.S. division, saw his pay shoot up 32.9 percent to $11.2 million. That included a salary of $899,732, cash incentive pay of $3.6 million and stock awards valued at $6.5 million.

All together, the five executives whose compensation was detailed in the company’s proxy statement drew pay of $62.6 million last year.
