Miuccia Prada Becomes Co-CEO

Carlo Mazzi named chairman.

MILAN — Miuccia Prada has left her role as chairperson of the board of Prada SpA, but will continue to serve as executive director and will take on the title of co-chief executive officer of the fashion house, flanking her husband Patrizio Bertelli, who will retain his role as ceo and executive director.

Former deputy chairman Carlo Mazzi will succeed Prada as chairperson.

The designer “will concentrate on the day-to-day management of the business by devoting her time to guiding the further development of the Group, mainly in the creative design and brands communication activities,” said the company in a statement.

This is part of a streamlining of the organization but it is understood the powers of the designer will not change. With less demands on her operative presence; this shift, however, will allow her to devote more time to style and communication.

The company said Prada’s appointment as ceo is “a natural extension of the role she has already played in the Group’s development and will be beneficial to the Group’s long term growth and progress.”

Mazzi joined the company 10 years ago and has been deputy chairman since 2007.
