PARIS — French retail-to-luxury group PPR has named Todd Hymel chief operating officer of the PPR Sport and Lifestyle division, a newly created position reporting to division managing director Jochen Zeitz.


His role will be to support the expansion of existing brands and integrate new brands into the division while delivering operational synergies, the group stated.


Hymel joined PPR as deputy director of mergers and acquisitions in 2008 after holding positions in auditing, consulting and private equity.


The group has also named Federico Barbieri as senior vice president of e-business, succeeding Fabien Sfez, who left PPR earlier this month, as reported.


Barbieri will work across the group’s activities, developing inter-brand strategies and coordinating e-business projects. He maintains his role as worldwide e-business and digital communication director for the Bottega Veneta brand.


PPR is in the process of shedding its retail activities to focus on a two-pronged portfolio of luxury brands on the one hand and sports and lifestyle labels on the other.


Both appointments are effective immediately.
