Watchmaker Raymond Weil has tapped Stuart Sklar to the newly created position of vice president of its North America business.

Sklar, an industry veteran, comes to Weil from Movado Group, where he was senior vice president, and watch brand Maurice Lacroix, where he served as president. He has also held the position of president of national sales at Bulova, where he helped oversee sales development and brand vision.

In the new post, Sklar will grow the Raymond Weil brand in North America and promote the launch of 88 Rue du Rhone, the company’s contemporary and lower-priced brand developed by Elie and Pierre Bernheim, the grandsons of Raymond Weil.

“With more than 20 years in the watch industry, I look forward to leveraging my knowledge and experience in the world of Swiss watch brands,” Sklar said. “Working alongside Olivier, Elie and Pierre Bernheim, our dedicated team’s goal is to cultivate the successful growth of Raymond Weil by ensuring partnerships with the best watch retailers in North America and establishing 88 Rue du Rhone as the most compelling new Swiss watch brand of 2013.”

The new 2013 collections of Weil and 88 Rue du Rhone will make their debut at Switzerland’s Basel watch fair on April 24.
