LONDON — The Rockport Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Adidas Group, has appointed Tobias Reiss-Schmidt as president and chief executive officer.
Reiss-Schmidt, currently senior vice president of global retail and Americas at the footwear label, replaces Michael Rupp, who has resigned to take up a position outside of the Adidas Group.
Reiss-Schmidt’s appointment is effective July 1, while Rupp’s resignation is effective June 30.
Reiss-Schmidt will report to Herbert Hainer, ceo of the Adidas Group.
Reiss-Schmidt, 38, has held various executive positions at Rockport since he joined the company in 2008. Before that, he served as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group and at Beiersdorf AG.
Rupp, 51, had spent 25 years at the Adidas Group, and the company credited him with “the turnaround” of the Rockport brand, saying that he led the label to achieve “long-term sustainable growth.”
