PARIS — Sarah Rutson, longtime fashion director at Lane Crawford, is leaving the Hong Kong retailer “to pursue new personal opportunities.”

Andrew Keith, president of Lane Crawford and Joyce Group, revealed her departure via e-mail, calling her “an inspiration in style, a master class in fashion and one of the greatest champions of our brand.

“I wish her all the very best for this exciting new chapter of her life,” he added.

Rutson has yet to indicate her next move, and she could not immediately be reached for comment.

According to Keith, Rutson created Lane Crawford’s women’s contemporary fashion department during her first full-time tenure, from 1993 to 2000. In 2004, she spearheaded an effort to build a “world-class fashion portfolio” by adding a host of designer brands.

Rutson ultimately became fashion director and helped Lane Crawford expand into Mainland China, “directly contributing to the growth of the business,” according to Keith.

In recent years, Rutson — who has a penchant for killer heels, sleek pants and statement jackets — also became a favorite target of photo bloggers as they multiplied at international fashion weeks.
