PARIS — Employees from the Sephora flagship on the Champs-Élysées here took out a full-page advertisement in Le Figaro newspaper's weekend edition saying: "We want to continue working at night."

The staffers, who reaffirmed their opposition to a union's legal request that the store close at 9 p.m., included in the ad a hand-written petition signed by about 90 people.

The store currently closes at midnight each day except Friday and Saturday, when it shuts at 1 a.m.

The employees called a 9 p.m. closing not only, "unfavorable to us employees, but also to our clients."
