Two executive search firms from different continents, Simpson Associates and Able Fisher, have formed a partnership to help retailers and brands staff overseas operations and place executives looking to relocate across borders.

“This is a referral relationship,” said Vivek Mahan, president, chief executive officer and founder of the 15-year-old Able Fisher, which has offices in Singapore, London, Hong Kong and Paris. Mahan said he has a team of 12 conducting board-level searches in Asia, the U.S. and Middle East, including presidents, ceo’s and chief financial officers. He said his clients have included Gap Inc., Polo Ralph Lauren Corp., Mexx and Coach Inc.
Simpson Associates, led by Terre Simpson, is based at 106 Central Park South in Manhattan. Simpson’s niche is filling middle to senior management positions in retail, catalogue, e-commerce, wholesale and manufacturing. “The rung just below the C-level really hasn’t been fully exploited,” Simpson said. Typically, she places executive vice presidents down to vice presidents over areas such as sales, merchandising, product development, production and operations and earning from $150,000 to $300,000. She’ll be feeding Able Fisher candidates from the U.S. seeking jobs overseas and referring U.S. corporate clients seeking to establish overseas operations, while Able Fisher will send her clients from abroad seeking jobs in the U.S.
