PARIS — Adding to management ranks to fuel its expansion drive, SMCP Group has named Jean-Philippe Hecquet managing director of its Sandro fashion chain, effective this week.

Hecquet joins Sandro from Tag Heuer, where he was in charge of the watch firm’s retail activities, according to SMCP. Prior to that, Hecquet worked for Louis Vuitton in various operational and management roles in the U.S. and Canada.

He succeeds Stéphane Ledru, who moved to become chief executive officer of the Asia-Pacific region for SMCP, the holding company for the Sandro, Maje and Claudie Pierlot chains.

Daniel Lalonde, ceo of SMCP and also an alumnus of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, said Hecquet’s international profile and extensive retail experience would help him spearhead and accelerate Sandro’s growth.

Lalonde also recently named new managers at SMCP’s other two chains, completing his team. Sylvie Colin joined Maje last May as managing director from French fashion chain Caroll, part of Vivarte Group. In March, Isabelle Allouch became managing director of Claudie Perlot after a career in cosmetics retail, most recently with L’Occitane en Provence as its managing director in France.

KKR & Co. bought a 65 percent stake in SMCP last year, signaling heightened investor interest in the accessible luxury segment.
