NEW YORK — Tourneau LLC has named Ira Melnitsky chief executive officer.

He succeeds James Seuss, who left Tourneau last year to become ceo and global president of accessory brand Hunter Boots. Melnitsky, who will join the watch retailer on Oct. 16, most recently worked as president of the home and better handbag divisions of LF USA since 2011.

Prior to that, he served as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Rue La La, following jobs as executive vice president of sales and merchandising at both Tumi and Ferragamo USA.

“Ira has 24 years of experience in luxury retailing, multibrand environments and accessories, having served in leadership roles at Tumi, Ferragamo, Li & Fung and Lord & Taylor,” Tourneau chairman Robert Wexler said.

Melnitsky began his career as an accessories buyer at Lord & Taylor.

Expressing optimism for his new role at the watch retailer, Melnitsky added: “Tourneau has a 113-year history in fine watch retailing and a leading position in the U.S. market. I look forward to working with the executive team.”
