Burberry on Wednesday confirmed reports that it has taken legal action against Try, a South Korean innerwear firm that is part of SBW Inc, for trademark infringement. Try had been producing garments in fabrics in a similar pattern to Burberry’s check.
Burberry said: “As a global luxury brand, Burberry considers the protection of its trademarks vital to the health of its business and brand. Burberry protects both its brand and its customers by defending its intellectual property rights and will always act against the abuse of its trademarks.”
According to local news reports, Burberry is seeking compensation of 100 million Korean won, or around $94,000, from SBW, though Burberry declined to comment on that figure.
