Beiersdorf is diving for pearls into the Internet ocean.
The Hamburg-based maker of Nivea, Eucerin and La Prairie has created an online platform called Pearlfinder to encourage inventors, scientists and packaging experts to contribute to product research and development.
External partners can register for access to briefings and confidential collaborations, be they universities or small companies.
“Beiersdorf has always been open to innovative ideas from the outside,” said Beiersdorf’s head of research and development, Klaus-Peter Wittern, citing an example of a farmer who suggested an ingredient in burdock root that became part of Nivea’s Pure & Natural range.
