MILLER'S LEG UP: Nicole Miller has signed a licensing deal with Leg Resource Inc. to manufacture and distribute hosiery, tights, leggings and socks under the Nicole Miller Collection and the better-priced Nicole Miller New York label. A small group of Nicole Miller Collection items will launch during the holiday season, while a spring debut is planned for the full line and the Nicole Miller New York pieces. The collections are expected to retail from $8 to $40 at Nicole Miller boutiques and high-end and better department and specialty stores.
"I like being able to interpret my patterns and color in legwear so that it relates to the collection each season," Miller said.

The 87-year-old designer was there to accept the Iconoclast Award for the company she founded. SCARF IT UP: Former Helmut Lang art director Stephen Wong is launching a collection of cashmere scarves under the label Wong Wong, emblazoned with the words "penetration," "two-man combo" and "hump and run." But the phrases are not meant to be pornographic — we're talking soccer terms here. Penetration, for instance, describes a player driving through the opposing defense. "People say it as a natural [European] football term, but if you take it to a different context, it's funny," Wong said, Each scarf pattern evokes certain team colors and Wong, a hard-core fan of the European leagues, has carefully matched the phrases to reflect each group's style of play. "London's Arsenal Football Club plays a very attacking style of football," said Wong, earning it the "penetration" tag. Scotland's Celtic F.C., meanwhile, is known for its kick long-and-chase approach — a tactic colloquially referred to as the "hump and run." The Wong Wong line, which wholesales at $120, bows at Paris' Colette boutique this fall.MEDAL OF HONOR: Philanthropist Patricia Kennedy inaugurated the veterans support organization Step Up 4 Vets at her Beverly Hills mansion, La Villa Paradiso, last month. In the patriotic spirit of the event, seven Condor Squadron planes flew overhead and the dress code was red, white and blue. The evening's big event was the design of the Peace One Earth medallion that Kennedy created to support Step Up 4 Vets. It features a dove above the earth's two hemispheres and is priced from $49.99 to $2,500 on peaceoneearth.com. "I drew the first circle for the medallion from a hair spray can," Kennedy said. "I designed the medallion to make a statement about what truly matters." To recognize their service to the USO, she put medallions around the necks of actresses Stephanie Powers and Kate Linder, and guest of honor Wayne Newton.
As one of the most recognizable models in the world, Christy Turlington Burns has an insider’s view of the fashion industry and the allegations of sexual harassment swirling around it. “I can say that harassment and mistreatment have always been widely known and tolerated in the industry. The industry is surrounded by predators who thrive on the constant rejection and loneliness so many of us have experiences at some point in our careers,” Turlington told WWD, along with her suggestions for how the modeling world should protect younger women and men. 24-year-old Jean Prounis is redefining the rules of jewelry. Formerly a studio assistant to Jemima Kirke and a design apprentice at Ghuran, she focuses on handcrafted subtleties and ancient goldsmithing techniques. “There was a really sterile feel in the environment and I wanted to have jewelry with character that shapes how you wear it everyday,” Prounis said. Each piece is hand made in New York, either by Prounis or three other jewelers in the district. #wwdfashion
