Hearst Newspapers has tapped Jeff Bergin as vice president of vertical strategy development.
Bergin, who will report to Hearst Newspapers president Mark Aldam, will be charged with identifying “contemporary solutions to meet recruitment, real estate and automotive customer needs,” the company said. He will be based in San Francisco.
“Jeff has a unique background in both advertising sales execution and strategy development over an extended local media career that will serve us well as we upgrade our portfolio of solutions,” said Aldam. “As the marketplace continues to evolve, it is important that we constantly evaluate and improve the products that serve our clients.”
Prior to this role, Bergin served as senior vice president of advertising sales for the San Francisco Chronicle since 2009. He has also worked as vice president of national sales and advertising strategy at rival Gannett from 2001 to 2009.
