KELLWOOD TAPS POWERS: Kellwood Co. on Tuesday named Stephen F. Powers, a former May Department Stores executive, to serve as president and chief executive officer of its Koret moderate sportswear division.

Powers, 56, succeeds Harold Brooks, who left the St. Louis-based company in December.

Stephen Ruzow, president of Kellwood’s women’s wear division, said of Powers: “His background in product development and strategic planning will provide the leadership and direction our Koret team needs as we continue to redesign, modernize, reinvent and expand the Koret brand for today’s woman.”

At May, Powers last served as executive vice president of women’s apparel for May Merchandising. Brooks, his predecessor, also had worked at May, which, like Kellwood, is based in St. Louis.

Powers reports to Ruzow and is based in Oakland, Calif.
