Spa Buzz, a Dallas company that organizes networking events for spa professionals and vendors, has created a unique auction site whose purpose is to generate business. Launched in December, Spabuzzauction.com works like eBay, where visitors can bid on different services and products—except that all items posted for auction have been donated, explains Marianne McEvoy, vice president of business development. There is also a reader review area, where visitors can weigh in on services. Participants thus far have included Bliss in Dallas, Exhale, Agua at Delano in Miami Beach, Caudalie Vinotherapy Spa in New York and I Spa at the Hotel Intercontinental in San Francisco. “It’s online social networking that we have used to attract people who might not have been in for a while,” says Tony Nicastro, director of Bliss Dallas.
