For some makeup artists, brows—or the lack thereof—took center stage at the makeup mirror during the Fall 2007 collections in Paris. Falling squarely in the camp of strong brow were Christian Dior’s John Galliano and Chanel. What better, after all, to go with Dior’s brilliantly colored couture-inspired suits than an equally strong brow, one that dominated an otherwise neutral face? At Chanel, the strong brow emphasized a tweed-filled winter-ready collection. But at Balenciaga and Comme des Garçons, they were obliterated entirely, powdered over with white at the former, obscured by sky blue eye shadow at the latter.
