NEW YORK — Visitors to Designers & Agents next month will find a new feature: a trend forum and installation by Edelkoort Inc., the U.S. arm of the Paris trend-forecasting firm, on spring-summer 2015 directions.
“I have known Barbara Kramer [who produces D&A with Ed Mandelbaum] since the late Nineties, and have seen the fair grow,” explained Philip Fimmano, director of Edelkoort Inc. “We started to talk about collaborating together. Our trend forecast is usually reserved for designers, marketers, merchandisers, colorists, textile weavers and yarn makers, but we thought it could also be interesting to communicate these ideas to buyers and merchandisers on the retail side of the industry.”
The installation will feature visuals, text and music. The concept of the project is centered on the idea of “Gathering,” or, as Fimmano put it, “social trends and how they bring people together. This is mirrored by technique and textiles, so we will see importance of pleating, smocking and different gathering techniques, embroideries.…Everything about stitching together and bringing fashion together.”
Lidewij Edelkoort is a well-known trend forecaster working across several fields including fashion, textiles, interiors, cosmetics, retail, cars and food.
D&A takes place Sept. 13 to 15 at the Starrett-Lehigh Building and Center548.
Alberta Ferretti's "Rainbow Week" sweaters are back. The designer closed her #MFW show with a few day-of-the-week sweaters, which first debuted on the catwalk last January as part of the pre-fall 2017 collection. #wwdfashion (📷: @delphineachard)
